Cristina Sliwa Vega

Cristina Sliwa Vega studied Translation and Interpreting at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), in the language combination of French and English (2011-2015). As for her postgraduate studies, she holds a Master’s degree in Institutional Translation in the English language combination from the Universidad de Alicante (2015-2016) and an Executive Master in Digital Marketing and Communication from l’Université Libre of Brussels (2019-2020).

Likewise, in 2018 she participated as a speaker at the 5th International Seminar on English and Spanish Lexicology and Lexicography: the Words of the Law at the Universidad de Alicante, with a paper entitled: Asymmetry and legal translation: Act of God, force majeure and Cas fortuit. That same year her work as a translator was recognized by ATLAS (Association for the promotion of literary translation) at the CITL (Collége International des traducteurs littéraires) in Arles, (France) for the translation of her work The cost of living in the 16th century, in whose workshop she was able to exhibit her work and make it known, as well as to see the problems of translating a 16th century text.

On the other hand, in 2019 she organized with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid a translation workshop called Tradutoys: shall we play? Workshop on the translation of toys EN>ES and ES<>FR, whose objective was to bring TeI students closer to the difficulties of creative translations.

With regard to her professional experience, having just finished her studies in translation and interpreting, she began her career as a freelance translator in the EN/FR>ES combinations in the legal-economic field. In September 2018 she decided to set up her own translation company, FAST.txt, based in Madrid and Brussels, of which she is founder and coordinator of the various projects. Today, she continues as the main coordinator of her company and launches her project in specialized translation training, the Center for Translation and Interpreting Studies (CETI, by its Spanish acronym).
