Within the scripts for audiovisual format, we can distinguish two main types: the literary script, on the one hand, and the technical script, on the other hand.

The literary script is the first version of the script, where the story, characters, dialogues and actions are described (i.e. everything that has a narrative component). The writer of the literary script is usually the screenwriter.

Once the literary script is finished, we proceed to the elaboration of the technical script, which is nothing more than the planning of the literary script to take it to the screen. This is a much more private document, prepared by the director to visualize the film before shooting (few people have access to it).

In the construction of the script, we must prepare a preliminary draft that includes the following elements: the theme or central idea (it should not occupy more than one sentence), the synthesis of the story (following the traditional scheme of beginning, middle and end) and the outline, which is the relation of the sequences ordered narratively, where the moments of greatest interest are established.

Although the script can be considered the audiovisual text par excellence, there are other audiovisual products that require careful writing adapted to the context, as in the case of video game localization. When it comes to localizing a video game, you have to be very precise and pay attention to detail not only to the linguistic aspects, but also to the cultural aspects, so only professionals in the creation of audiovisual content can offer a service that meets the standards required.
